Short BIO
Ramon Serna Oliver is Principal Scientist at TTTech Auto (Vienna, Austria). Throughout his career, Ramon has been a pivotal contributor on interdisciplinary teams to the design and implementation of core components and tooling for safety‑critical products. He drives research on innovative scheduling algorithms that address the complex configuration challenges of heterogeneous real‑time systems, with a particular focus on Deterministic Ethernet and Time‑Triggered architectures for the automotive domain.
He earned a Dr‑Ing (Ph.D.) in 2010 from the Chair of Real‑Time Systems at TU Kaiserslautern, after completing a Computer‑Engineering diploma (2005) at the University of the Balearic Islands (Spain). Earlier appointments include research‑assistant work at the Mälardalen Real‑Time Research Center (MRTC), Mälardalen University (Västerås, Sweden) and an invited researcher position at the Institute of Computing, Universidade Federal Fluminense (Niterói, Brazil).
Ramon’s research spans adaptive, resource‑constrained real‑time safety‑critical systems, deterministic wired and wireless communications, and the nuanced trade‑offs inherent in quality‑of‑service provisioning. He has chaired the International Workshop on Real‑Time Networks (RTN), guiding the event to unite emerging and senior researchers and to bridge the gap between academic breakthroughs and industry practice.
Besides occasional participation in Ph.D. committees, he contributes regularly as reviewer of journal and conferences and serves in PC committees of leading venues. His work consistently aims to translate cutting‑edge research into tangible, high‑assurance solutions for today’s most demanding real‑time applications.
